The Bumbo Battle

Editor's note: This blog post is intentionally "wordy" in an attempt to illustrate what a mindful response to a string of tantrums might look like to beginners . Don't be intimidated by the details. You don't have to think or do every part of this to be mindful. Simply use whichever concepts feel best to you.

As the mother in the story, I can say that's it's been helpful at times to think very carefully about what happens inside everyone's brains as I'm interacting with my children. But, in general, it's not necessary to think scientifically or psychologically through the details of a traumatic moment. Normally my thoughts are very simple when things are crazy: Whoa! So-in-so needs help. I can accept life As Is . I will lend my maturity until this moment is over. That's all. ~Amy
